Gov. Abbott issues executive order closing bars and restaurants, shuttering schools, limiting visits at nursing homes
Drive thru and pickup service still allowed. Abbott stressed that his order is NOT a shelter in place order
Gov. Greg Abbott has issued a new executive order
to draw Texas in line with states across the country that have ratcheted up containment
measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
Abbott used what has become a daily COVID-19 news
conference to unveil an anticipated new
executive order: prohibiting gatherings of more than 10 in bars,
restaurants and food courts, thus forcing establishments into delivery mode; stopping
the use of gyms and massage parlors; and strictly restricting visits to nursing
and retirement homes.
