Lyceum poll shows perhaps surprising results about fundamental elections changes

Democracy the theme of this year’s survey

Texans surveyed last month in the annual Texas Lyceum poll were surprisingly open to significant changes in the state’s elections, including ideas such as automatically registering citizens, giving felons the right to vote and making Election Day a national holiday.

Democracy was the theme of this year’s survey from the non-profit non-partisan Lyceum.

In general, the 1,000 Texans polled like the idea of democracy as the best form of government. In practice, voters were a little less sure, with older voters being more supportive and younger voters more open to adjustments in the current system.
