Sen. Uresti co-defendant Bates pleads guilty to conspiracy, other charges

Stan Bates pleaded guilty Monday to nine felony charges, including conspiracy to commit fraud

From the San Antonio Express News:

Former FourWinds Logistics CEO Stan Bates pleaded guilty Monday to nine felony charges, including conspiracy to commit fraud, in the criminal trial where he’s a co-defendant with state Sen. Carlos Uresti.

Bates withdrew his motion to sever his case from Uresti and co-defendant Gary Cain. The three men were charged in May with a combined 22 counts of conspiracy, fraud, money laundering and other charges in connection with their work with FourWinds.

Bates faces decades in prison and fines of between $250,000 to $5 million for each of the charges.

The three were accused of defrauding investors in the failed frac sand company and were scheduled to stand trial later this month.
