People on the Move

Some longtime journalists now in state government, veteran lobbyists making moves, and a big congrats to a familiar face in the Texas Senate

Another week of this blistering hot summer in the books and it was great to see so many of your smiling faces at the West Texas Legislative Summit in San Angelo. That’s the glamorous assignment I gave myself while Quorum Report’s Kimberly Reeves was checking on those who made the trek out to Los Angeles for NCSL.

At the summit in San Angelo, there must have been at least about 30 Texas House members – from both political parties – and as Chairman Drew Darby mentioned in his welcome message: “These are Texans who want to solve problems.”

At the breakfast event alone, moderated by Rep. Darby, the panelists included Trent Ashby, Andrew Murr, Jose Rodriguez, Gary VanDeaver, Paul Workman, Four Price, and Drew Springer. Many others were featured throughout the day.

Turns out that at least one of the lobbyists on hand for that event is making a move back here in Austin this week. If you have career news to share, feel free to drop a line anytime at ksbraddock@gmail.com and please put “People on the Move” or “POTM” in the subject line. That helps me keep it all straight on my desk.
